The expert named the possible time frame for the creation of the Barguzin missile system

In the coming years, the Russian Missile Forces may receive a new combat railroad missile system "Barguzin", but this requires the approval of the country's military leadership, the expert said. The project to create this technique was suspended in 2017. Earlier, the media reported that the resumption of work on this complex is possible with a change in the military-political situation.

The Russian Strategic Missile Forces (Strategic Missile Forces) will be able to receive a new Barguzin combat railroad missile system (BZHRK) within the next three to five years, an expert in the field of strategic weapons, a veteran of the Strategic Missile Forces Vladimir Evseev told RIA Novosti. According to him, this will happen if the country's military leadership takes an appropriate decision.

Earlier it was planned that the new generation BZHRK "Barguzin" would be developed by 2018, but in 2017, Rossiyskaya Gazeta, citing a source in the defense industry, reported that the creation of a new BZHRK had been suspended.

In the meantime, there is no need to know about it. ”
“I believe that the deployment of the Barguzin would be the most effective response to the strategic threat posed by the growth of NATO military bases near the Russian borders ... In my opinion, it will take about three to create a prototype rocket, flight tests, and work out various systems. five years, for a missile complex this is a very short time, "Yevseev noted.

He expressed the opinion that the reason for the freezing of this project was the plans of the Russian leadership to extend the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START-3). But now the prolongation of the agreement is under a big question, and Moscow is already preparing for the fact that the United States will abandon this idea. Another factor, he said, was the financial issue.

According to the expert, in terms of its characteristics, "Barguzin" is significantly superior to its Soviet predecessor - the "Molodets" railroad jet missile complex. He was armed with a missile that was too heavy, which did not fit in a regular carriage, which turned out to be a serious unmasking factor.

"Barguzin", thanks to the "lightweight" rocket, which is included in a regular carriage, can launch on any section of the railway. If necessary, strike back, this complex will be more effective than the PGRK (mobile ground missile system. - "Gazeta.Ru") such as "Topol" and "Yars", because to carry out the launch, they will have to go to the field area and turn around there, becoming for some time vulnerable to the enemy, "Yevseev specified.

BZHRK "Barguzin" is a train that is outwardly indistinguishable from an ordinary freight train.

In the meantime, there is no need to know about it. ”
Its cars can carry three ICBMs with 30 warheads with a yield of 550 kilotons each. The train also contains command posts, technological and technical systems, communications and personnel.

If there is a threat of nuclear war, the BZHRK will have to go out on patrol routes and merge with the flow of other trains. After the order for combat use "Barguzin" stops and prepares to launch an attack. To do this, the doors on the roofs of the three carriages move to the sides, and the mechanisms hidden inside bring the missile launch containers to a vertical position. The launch takes place within a few minutes.

The Russian Defense Ministry announced the beginning of the development of the BZHRK project in 2012, in 2014 the Yars missile was chosen for it. In 2017, the Russian media wrote that the development of "Barguzin" was postponed indefinitely. According to journalists, the project has been fully developed and carried out missile throw tests for the complex. Later, information appeared that the resumption of work on this project is possible with a change in the military-political situation.

The development of the new BZHRK was carried out by the Moscow Institute of Heat Engineering, taking into account the experience of creating its predecessor - BZHRK "Molodets".

In the meantime, there is no need to know about it. ”
In Soviet times, the Strategic Missile Forces had three divisions, each of which had four BZHRK "Molodets", that is, 12 "nuclear trains" carried 36 missiles, and each of them had ten warheads.

The main passenger of the BZHRK Molodets was the RS-22 rocket: experts called it the most accurate in the world. The USA gave it the name "Scalpel". Each train had three rockets.

The Soviet military railway missile system Molodets was decommissioned in 2005 under the START II treaty, but the START III that replaced it does not prohibit the creation of missile systems of this type.
