In 2024, the PPHMB JSC Museum celebrates its 35th anniversary. The museum is the keeper of many secret stories of the "numbered" plant, and its exposition evokes admiration for the products of past years, preserving the memory of the power and achievements of a bygone era.
The history of the enterprise is full of events of the labor enthusiasm of the plant workers and their selfless work. In order to preserve the memory of those events and educate new generations of workers and specialists, a plant museum was organized in the plant administration building in the 1970s, but soon a decision was made to build a separate building. This decision emphasizes the self-sufficiency of the plant, which in its development was a real closed city, providing for all the needs of its 14,000 employees. In 1989, the grand opening of the museum took place.
Long before the completion of the museum, the collection of documents, photographs and product samples began, as well as the production of models of large products, according to a pre-developed exposition plan.
However, due to restrictions on access to classified materials, the museum could reflect only a small part of the plant's history, concerning peaceful products, which constituted less than 10% of the total production volume. As a result, the company's management decided to create a complete and detailed history of the plant, including events related to the production of military equipment. The work was carried out in strict secrecy: research was carried out on the basis of classified documents, and a historian was hired for the work, who was provided with all the necessary materials. An important source of information was the archives of the North Kazakhstan region, as well as the memories of veterans, specialists and workers of the plant.
The museum reflects not only achievements in the field of peaceful products, but also in the development of defense technologies, including mobile missile systems, meteorological rockets and other examples of military equipment. Over the past decades, the museum has also become a place where the plant's achievements in the field of oil production and oil refining are displayed. The stands present over 330 units of products developed for the oil industry of Kazakhstan.
The plant museum has become a symbol of perpetuating the memory of the heroic past of the enterprise and its people. Award ceremonies for employees who have been awarded the titles of "Veteran of Labor" and "Honored Veteran of Labor" are regularly held here.
In recent years, the functions of the museum have expanded significantly. It has become an important tool for forming a corporate spirit and is used as an integral part of the presentation of JSC "PPHMB" for high-ranking guests and potential partners. The museum's exposition continues to develop, reflecting new achievements and milestones in the history of the plant.
