May 9 is a special day filled with pride, sorrow, and deep respect for the heroic deeds of the generation of victors. Kazakhstanis made an invaluable contribution to the Great Victory: over 1.2 million people were drafted to the front, while hundreds of thousands remained on the home front, working around the clock in factories, on farms, and in hospitals — all for a common goal, for peace. Victory Day is not only a tribute to remembrance but also a reminder of our responsibility to history and to those who fought for the right of future generations to live in peace.
During the war years, dozens of industrial enterprises were relocated to Kazakhstan, where they would play a crucial role in defeating fascism. A special connection to Victory Day is preserved within the Kazakhstan Engineering Group of Companies. The Holding's plants were established during the post-war industrialization period, and some were already operational at the beginning of the war. Today, these plants are unrecognizable after 80 years, but their contribution to history will never be erased.
These enterprises employed people who lived through the war, built the industry from scratch, and passed on their knowledge to new generations of engineers, workers, and technologists. We are proud that our plants still employ labor veterans and children of war heroes — bearers of living memory of a great feat.
For example, at JSC “S.M. Kirov Plant”, the memory of war veterans and labor heroes — whose lives and achievements are part of the plant’s legacy — is preserved with deep respect. Among them is Adyp Sharipovich Mustaev, a sergeant in the Soviet Army and veteran of the Great Patriotic War, awarded the Order of the Patriotic War 1st Class, the Order of the Red Star, and the Medal “For Courage.” After the war, he worked at the plant for decades and was honored with the Order of the Red Banner of Labor.
Kuzma Mikhailovich Nesterov, a private in the Guards, fought on the 3rd Ukrainian Front. After the Victory, starting in 1951, he dedicated his life to working at the plant, making a significant contribution to the development of the defense industry.
Among the women, employees proudly recall Maria Iosifovna Shishkina-Piskareva, a junior sergeant and sniper. She fought on the Karelian, 1st Ukrainian, and 3rd Belorussian fronts. After the war, she worked at the plant for many years, sharing her experience and knowledge with young colleagues, continuing to serve her homeland in peacetime.
The labor feat of the employees of JSC “Zenit Uralsk Plant” is no less renowned. A vivid example of dedication and love for the Motherland is Anna Eduardovna Bukina, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War, who made a worthy contribution to the development of the enterprise. Alongside her, more than 30 rear workers labored shoulder to shoulder. Their tireless efforts during the war years ensured the stable operation of the plant and significantly contributed to the common cause of Victory. Their work became an important part of the factory’s history — a symbol of resilience and selflessness.
At JSC “Research Institute Gidropribor”, they honor the memory of Lidiya Petrovna Gorbaneva, who was awarded the Jubilee Medal for the 70th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
Lidiya Petrovna was not even seven years old when the war began. She endured the harsh trials of wartime — hunger, loss, and the death of her father, who never returned from the front. Her life stands as a vivid example of perseverance and love for her country.
“The road to victory was long and difficult — it came at the cost of tremendous sacrifice. Harsh living conditions, exhausting labor, hunger, the loss of loved ones, our health, the chance to study — this was the price of our victory. And without a doubt, the selfless labor of our fearless, courageous people remains a shining example for educating today's younger generation,” — recalled Lidiya Petrovna.
Today, we continue the legacy of our predecessors — developing the country’s mechanical engineering industry and strengthening Kazakhstan’s industrial potential. We honor and thank everyone who brought Victory closer.
May the courage and resilience of the heroes inspire us to achieve new accomplishments for the future of our independent and strong nation.
