JSC “NC “Kazakhstan Engineering” Extends Congratulations on June 4 – the Day of State Symbols of the Republic of Kazakhstan

JSC “National Company “Kazakhstan Engineering” congratulates the citizens of the country on the Day of State Symbols of the Republic of Kazakhstan — a holiday celebrating national pride, sovereignty, and unity. This day has been observed annually on June 4 since 2007, following the adoption of the Constitutional Law “On the State Symbols of the Republic of Kazakhstan,” which established the special status of the State Flag, Emblem, and Anthem — essential attributes of our statehood and unifying symbols of the nation.

The creation of these symbols was accompanied by broad public and professional discussions. Kazakhstan, having only recently gained independence, faced the challenge of expressing both its historical legacy and modern aspirations through new symbols. Discussions were held among experts, in parliament, and within creative circles — all in search of a balance between tradition and the spirit of a new era, between ethno-cultural roots and the multiethnic nature of society.

The State Flag of the Republic of Kazakhstan is a sky-blue banner featuring a golden sun with a soaring steppe eagle beneath it, and a vertical stripe with a national ornamental pattern along the hoist. The sky-blue color symbolizes peace, clear skies, and national unity, and is also a traditional color of the Turkic world. During the design process, alternative options were proposed — green, white, with images of a yurt or other symbols — but ultimately a minimalist and expressive design by Honored Artist Shaken Niyazbekov was chosen.

The State Emblem is designed in the shape of a circle — a symbol of life, the sun, and eternity. Its central element is the shanyrak — the upper dome of a yurt, symbolizing the hearth, unity, and integrity of the nation. Radiating from the shanyrak are the uyks (supporting poles), resembling rays of the sun. On each side are depicted mythical winged horses — tulpars — representing strength and forward movement. Initially, other shapes were considered, such as a heraldic shield, but the final design deeply rooted in Kazakh culture was selected. The Emblem was created by architects Zhandarbek Malibekov and Shot-Aman Valikhanov.

The current version of the State Anthem was adopted on January 6, 2006. It is based on the popular patriotic song “Menin Qazaqstanym” (“My Kazakhstan”), written in the 1950s. The music was composed by Shamshi Kaldayakov, with lyrics by Zhumeken Nazhimedenov and Nursultan Nazarbayev, who adapted the text in the context of an independent Kazakhstan. The decision to use an existing song sparked debate, but it was ultimately embraced as a heartfelt expression of love for the Motherland, resonating with every citizen of Kazakhstan.

These symbols are far more than formal insignia. They are living emblems of independence — reflections of our past and beacons for our future. Behind them lies a profound journey of rethinking our history, values, and national identity. Today, they not only visually represent Kazakhstan, but also serve as a powerful source of inspiration, uniting the country’s multiethnic population around the ideals of independence, progress, and national unity.

JSC “NC “Kazakhstan Engineering” expresses its sincere gratitude to its employees, partners, and all citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan for their loyalty and dedication to our Homeland. May the Day of State Symbols inspire us all to continue building a strong, peaceful, and united nation, and to strengthen our national consciousness.
