Kazakhstan and Turkey intend to jointly develop the production of vehicles

JSC "NC" Kazakhstan Engineering "and Turkish" Otokar "plan to develop cooperation in the production of vehicles, including armored vehicles. The corresponding memorandum was signed on Thursday, May 24, in Astana by the heads of two companies, Aset Kurmangaliyev and Serdar Gyorgyuch, on the sidelines of the V International Exhibition of Arms and Military-Technical Property “KADEX-2018”.

The Otokar company is interested in organizing the production of vehicles and armored vehicles in Kazakhstan. In this regard, one of the plants, which is part of the national company "Kazakhstan Engineering", is considered as a technological site. It is planned that the joint venture will design and assemble vehicles.

Along with this, the parties intend to carry out support, repair and modernization of Turkish armored vehicles that are already in operation in Kazakhstan.

After the signing ceremony, General Director of Otokar S. Görgüç noted that the signed memorandum confirms the intentions of the Turkish side to work in Kazakhstan. Thus, according to him, the document became "the first step" in organizing joint production and creating an engineering center.

At the first stage of interaction, a working group will be formed that will develop a feasibility study, draw up a business plan for a joint project, and also work out the issues of technology transfer and intellectual property.
The defense company Otokar is part of the largest financial and industrial conglomerate in Turkey, Koç Holding, which is considered in Kazakhstan as one of the largest Turkish investors.
