Starting 2020, the assembly of Mi-8AMT / Mi-171 helicopters will be launched in Kazakhstan

A tripartite agreement was signed in Nur-Sultan to organize a large-node assembly of Mi-8AMT / Mi-171 helicopters in Kazakhstan between NС JSC Kazakhstan Engineering, Aircraft Repair Plant No. 405 JSC and Russian Helicopters JSC.

This document was concluded in accordance with a previous agreement between the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev and the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.

"It should be noted that with the active support of the government, Kazakhstan is introducing for the first time the technology for assembling heavy helicopters. Successful implementation of the project will complement the republican helicopter fleet. This will be a significant backlog in the further development of Kazakhstan’s helicopter industry, "said Kuanysh Bishimov, Chairman of the Management Board of NС Kazakhstan Engineering JSC.

Assembly and their adaptation to customer requirements will be carried out at plant No. 405, which has the greatest competencies in ensuring the safe operation of helicopters of this type in Kazakhstan. The plant is certified by Kazakhstan and international bodies for the repair, modernization and maintenance of Mi-8/17/171 helicopters.

The first batch of helicopters is expected to be delivered next year. Currently, contracts have been signed for the supply of eight helicopters with a subsequent increase in their number to 17 units in accordance with the requirements of customers. The main customers are a number of government agencies.
