On October 19 and 20, 2017, Astana hosts the International Forum "Kazakhstan's way into space: realities and prospects - 2017", dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the launch of the first artificial Earth satellite.

The purpose of the forum, organized by the Ministry of Defense and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan, is the exchange of best practices on the use of the results of space activities to solve the problems of economic sectors, consideration of the results of space activities over the past decade, as well as discussion of the prospects for the development of the space industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan, taking into account world experience .

The event was attended by more than 500 representatives of space departments and government agencies, famous scientists, specialists from leading world companies in the field of space technologies from more than 18 countries.

The forum was opened by the Minister of Defense and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan Beibut Atamkulov, who noted the importance of the task set by the Head of State to create an effective space industry in Kazakhstan.

Also welcoming remarks were made by ҚR Khalyk Khakarmany, Hero of Russia, pilot-cosmonaut, deputy of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Talgat Musabaev and Deputy General Director of the State Corporation for Space Activities “Roscosmos” Sergei Savelyev.

Marat Nurguzhin, Vice-Minister of Defense and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan, made a keynote speech on the development of the domestic space industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan at the plenary session.

Representatives of the French companies "Airbus Defense and Space" and "Thales Alenia Space", the Russian company JSC "Information Satellite Systems. Academician M.F. Reshetnev ”, the Korean company“ Satrec Initiative ”, the UAE space agency, the Eurasian Economic Commission, the Chinese Academy of Space Technologies and others, also presented their speeches.

The first day of the forum ended with a meeting of the general meeting of the Eurasian technological platform "Space and geoinformation technologies".

On the second day of the forum, it is planned to hold the 1st meeting of the Interstate Working Group on the preparation of the draft interstate program "Integrated system of the Eurasian Economic Union member states for the provision of space and geoinformation services based on national sources of Earth remote sensing data."
They will discuss the prospects for the development of space technologies and attracting investments in space activities of the Republic of Kazakhstan, exchange views on improving the environmental safety of the Baikonur cosmodrome, organize master classes on the effective use of Earth remote sensing data (ERS) and high-precision satellite navigation systems (SHSN). < br>
A feature of the current International Forum is the holding within its framework of the scientific conference "Fesenkov Readings on the topic:" Space Science in Kazakhstan: State and Prospects ", which will be held for the first time in Astana on the second day of the forum.

On the same day, with the support of the International Charitable Foundation "Dialogue of Cultures - United World", the National Space Center in Astana will host the opening ceremony of the bust of the first cosmonaut of the Earth Yu.A. Gagarin.

Summing up the results of the International Forum will end with the signing of the final Resolution of the event and a number of official documents with partners, the official closing of the forum will take place on October 20, 2017.

The next International Forum will be held in Astana within the framework of the V International Exhibition of Arms and Military-Technical Property "KADEX-2018".
