On August 7, 2025, JSC “NC “Kazakhstan Engineering” and its subsidiaries held Abai Readings dedicated to the 180th anniversary of the birth of the great Kazakh poet, philosopher, and educator Abai Kunanbayev. These events formed part of the nationwide celebrations and served as a reminder of the deep connection between spiritual values and the country’s modern development.

At the head office, employees took part in an intellectual quiz based on The Book of Words, reflecting on the philosophy and moral principles set forth by Abai Kunanbayev. Participants discussed how his ideas resonate with today’s challenges and tasks, and how Abai’s wisdom can inspire us in daily life and professional activities.

At the plant of JSC Semey Engineering, the readings took the form of a poetic gathering, where employees enthusiastically recited Abai’s poetry, performed songs set to his words, and shared personal reflections on the significance of his legacy. Heartfelt lines were heard, filled with love for the homeland, a thirst for knowledge, and the pursuit of self-improvement. The warm and sincere atmosphere of the event became living proof that the ideas of the great thinker continue to unite and inspire the people of Kazakhstan.

At R&D Center Kazakhstan Engineering LLP, the readings were accompanied by video materials about Abai’s life, as well as presentations by employees in the form of thematic mini-lectures on his role in the history of Kazakh literature, philosophy, and social thought. Abai’s works were recited with particular respect and a sense of shared heritage.

At Kazakhstan ASELSAN Engineering LLP, the events took a creative format: a thematic presentation on the poet’s life and work was delivered, and colleagues read selected verses from his poetry. Participants spoke about the eternal values Abai bequeathed to his people — honesty, the pursuit of knowledge, love for the homeland, and high moral integrity.

The team of JSC Hydropribor Research Institute also contributed to the celebrations. Employees set up a display in the enterprise’s scientific, technical, and art library dedicated to the thinker’s anniversary. In the reading hall, poetry readings were organized, and The Book of Words was broadcast via the internal radio network. Presentation materials on Abai’s creative path and philosophical heritage were made freely available to all employees.

In addition, the staff of JSC PZTM organized an off-site event, visiting a mural and a monument to Abai, and discussing the significance of the people’s thinker’s works and heritage.

At JSC S. M. Kirov Plant, employees held a round table where they read Abai’s poetry.

Today, the holding’s Abai Readings have become a significant event in its cultural life, fitting seamlessly into the context of the Year of Vocational Professions. The ideas that Abai Kunanbayev lived by and shared directly correspond to the core principles of engineering — the pursuit of knowledge, responsibility for results, and honesty before oneself and society. Participation in these events was not only an act of respect for the great legacy but also a reminder of the high spiritual ideals to which everyone working for the development of their country should aspire.
