From August 9 to 10, 2025, the quiet streets of the village of Karaul in the Abai Region were filled with the sounds of kyuis, the aromas of national cuisine, and the lively conversations of guests from all over the country. Here, one of the most significant cultural events of the year took place — festivities marking the 180th anniversary of the great poet, thinker, and educator Abai Kunanbayev.
The anniversary united traditions of the past and achievements of the present under one shanyrak. The celebration was enriched by the plants of NC Kazakhstan Engineering JSC, which presented samples of their products at an exhibition, as well as by the districts of the Abai Region, which brought unique crafts, cultural traditions, and economic projects to the event. A vision of the future seamlessly intertwined here with respect for the legacy of the past.
The main point of attraction was a large ethnically styled yurt set up in the heart of the festivities. Every guest could immerse themselves in the atmosphere of Kazakh hospitality: taste national dishes, listen to live performances of kyuis, and engage in conversations about the meaning of life, just as Abai himself once did.
A special highlight of the celebration was the initiative of NC Kazakhstan Engineering JSC to transform the event venue into a large-scale exhibition of the Company’s plants’ products. The main organizer was Semey Engineering JSC, which gathered under its spacious yurt colleagues from other enterprises of the Group of Companies, as well as numerous guests of the celebration. Thanks to joint efforts, the exhibition brought together colleagues from other plants in the Group and local residents, becoming a platform for communication, idea exchange, and familiarization with modern technologies of domestic production.
Visitors showed great interest in the Group’s products, asked questions, and shared their impressions. Many noted that the Kazakhstan Engineering display was among the most memorable at the celebration, and some even called it the best — for its well-thought-out presentation, informativeness, modern format, and the showcased samples.
The celebration in Karaul was more than just a tribute to the great thinker. It served as a reminder that his words and ideas remain relevant today: in respect for labor, in the pursuit of knowledge, and in creative energy. Abai’s anniversary once again demonstrated that the spiritual foundation of the nation grows stronger when the past inspires the future.
