AITU KazRoboDrone 3.0 Winners Announced

On February 20–21, 2026, the final of the International Drone Racing and Aeromodelling Competition AITU KazRoboDrone 3.0 was held at Astana IT University.

The top 125 participants reached the finals. In total, 1,295 applications were submitted from all regions of Kazakhstan, ranging from seven-year-old schoolchildren to university students. The geographic and age diversity of participants once again confirmed the rapidly growing interest in unmanned technologies and engineering creativity in the country.

AITU KazRoboDrone 3.0 was not just a competition but part of a developing technological ecosystem, where young participants have the opportunity to take their first steps into the profession, and the industry gains prepared and motivated specialists for the future.

The competition was held in two categories:

  • Drone Racing (Simulator and Mini-FPV) – Junior, Senior, and Open categories
  • Aeromodelling F1N – ages 7–12

The final races tested reaction speed, technical thinking, and the ability to work with modern digital solutions. Participants demonstrated not only piloting skills but also a deep understanding of aerodynamics and control principles.

The competition was supported by co-organizer and general sponsor R&D Center Kazakhstan Engineering LLP, as well as the Astana Daryny Center for Identification and Support of Gifted Children and Talented Youth under the Akimat of Astana.

It is important to note that R&D Center Kazakhstan Engineering LLP not only supports the development of engineering competencies but also systematically trains operators of unmanned aerial systems (UAS). The Center has developed training programs for UAS operators in Categories 1 and 2.

  • Category 1 focuses on basic theoretical training for operators of unmanned aerial vehicles weighing up to 25 kg for personal use. The 24-hour course covers aviation legislation, airspace structure, flight permission procedures, and fundamentals of aviation safety.
  • Category 2 (MID Rating) includes theoretical and practical training for professional operation of various UAS up to 25 kg. The program provides in-depth study of system operation principles and 48 hours of practical flight training, including pre-flight procedures and execution of flight missions.

Training is conducted in Astana, 2 Auezov Street.
